- What is RUO Pro?

- Who is it for?

- How is this different from Shopify or a generic platform?
- General platforms work until this category breaks them: mainstream payment apps freeze or ban research-chemical merchants, there’s no native way to tie a COA to a batch on the product page, and one policy sweep can take your store down. RUO Pro is built for the category — batch-level COAs, a claims guardrail, and high-risk-capable payments are part of the platform, not plugins you’re praying keep working.
Starting a brand
- How do I start a research-use-only brand?
- Form a business entity, secure a supplier that provides a certificate of analysis for every batch, get approved with a processor that accepts the category, put up a storefront with correct research-use-only labeling and no human-use claims, and set up fulfillment. Payments and compliance are where most people stall; RUO Pro exists to compress the rest.
- Do I need an LLC?
- In practice, yes — processors and suppliers contract with a registered business, and an entity separates personal from business liability. Talk to an attorney or a formation service about the right structure; RUO Pro doesn’t form the entity for you.
- What does it cost?
- The recurring costs of any brand in this category are your platform, payment-processing fees (higher here than mainstream retail), lab testing for COAs, inventory, and fulfillment. RUO Pro is priced per brand based on how you operate — book a demo and we’ll scope it to your setup.
Research use only & compliance
- What does “research use only” actually mean?
- It means the product is sold strictly for laboratory or research purposes — not for human or animal consumption — and is not a drug, supplement, food, or medical device. RUO products are not FDA-evaluated for safety or effectiveness in people, and they can’t be marketed with human-use, dosing, or therapeutic language.
- Is the “research use only” label enough to keep me safe?
- No — and this is the single most important thing to understand. Regulators judge a product by the total picture, not the label. If your marketing, imagery, dosing talk, or channel signals that the product is really meant for human use, the “RUO” sticker won’t save you; the FDA has sent warning letters to research-use-only sellers on exactly that basis. What keeps you clean is genuinely research-use product, honest labeling, and zero human-use claims. RUO Pro’s guardrail is built to hold that line before content goes live — it isn’t a substitute for your own judgment and counsel.
- Can I make health, dosing, or “results” claims?
- No. Human-use, dosing, therapeutic, or disease claims are what turn a research-use-only product into an unapproved drug in a regulator’s eyes — and what gets stores shut and payment accounts closed. RUO Pro flags that language across product pages, marketing, and messaging, routes changes through a review queue with sign-off, and keeps an audit trail of what changed and who approved it.
- How should the product be labeled?
- Clearly state research-use-only and not for human or animal consumption, carry no dosing or therapeutic instructions, and tie every unit to a batch/lot identifier that maps to its COA. RUO Pro enforces the labeling standard on every product and keeps the batch records so the right certificate travels with the right lot.
Payments
- Why do processors freeze or ban peptide sellers?
- Card networks class research chemicals as high-risk — regulatory uncertainty, chargeback exposure, and network rules. A mainstream aggregator will often approve you fast, then freeze funds or close the account once underwriting catches the category. That single point of failure is why new brands stall out.
- How does RUO Pro handle payments?
- Two things matter: getting approved, and not being trapped. RUO Pro presents your store the way high-risk underwriting wants to see it (clean RUO labeling, no human-use claims, COAs available, complete policies), and it stores your customers’ cards in a processor-portable tokenized vault — so if you ever need to change processors, you move without re-collecting a single card. You remain the merchant of record throughout.
- Who is the merchant of record?
- You are. You own the sale, the customer relationship, the tax, and the chargebacks. RUO Pro provides the software and the payment enablement — it does not sell your products for you or take your customers.
- How do I keep chargebacks under control?
- Accurate product descriptions, realistic delivery expectations, responsive support, and clean records. Because a chargeback spike is what triggers a freeze, the portable vault matters: if a processor relationship ends, your saved cards and customers come with you rather than being stranded.
COAs, supply & provenance
- What’s a certificate of analysis, and do I need one?
- A COA is a lab document reporting a batch’s identity and purity. In this category it’s the proof serious buyers rely on, and it’s increasingly expected right on the product page. RUO Pro attaches a COA to each batch, keeps version history, and publishes the certificate on the product automatically.
- How do I manage COAs across batches?
- Loose PDFs don’t survive contact with a second lot. RUO Pro stores COAs against batch/lot records with version history, so every unit that ships is traceable to its certificate — including on dropship, where you still own the correct COA for each batch even without holding stock.
- Where does the product come from?
- Many RUO Pro brands source from Polymer, DSCO’s research-materials supply brand, which provides per-batch COAs and generic, brand-neutral labeling. Where a brand sources from Polymer, it can carry the Polymer Partner provenance mark — a batch-level record buyers can check to confirm the supplied source and its certificate. You’re free to use your own supplier; the platform simply keeps the COA on every batch either way.
Ownership, data & the platform
- Do I own my data and customers?
- Yes. Catalog, orders, and customer records are yours, with export you control and role-based access. Business data is isolated per brand and kept separate from any clinical systems, with a full audit log.
- What’s actually included?
- A themeable storefront wired to your catalog; catalog and per-batch COAs; compliance and claims review; high-risk-capable payments with a portable tokenized vault; a customer view across the lifecycle; and fulfillment and support. It replaces the rented-theme-plus-spreadsheet-plus-fragile-processor stack most brands cobble together.
- Does it connect to the tools I already use?
